Learn how to cycle with confidence |
|
Courses are ideally run during the school day. However courses may be arranged for the school holidays.
After school sessions are an option but following a full school day trainees often do not have the stamina to go out cycling effectively for two hours.
Bikeability is for everyone as the three Levels provide opportunities to enhance and develop cycling skills and confidence.
Cycling is an efficient and healthy mode of transport. Providing freedom from timetables and parking problems whilst improving fitness and general health. |
|

A Single Session Playground Based Prior to course starting trainee's bikes are adjusted

Post Course Feedback reports and Bikeability Certificates issued. |

Levels 1-2 Nominal School Course Structure (Typically for Years 5 & Older) (There are potential grants available for trainees from Years 5—7) Here we work towards achieving the Bikeability Level 2 cycling standard.

Session 1 Playground Based Prior to course starting trainee's bikes are adjusted The aim of this session is to ensure that the bikes and children are ready to go on road. (Bikeability Level 1) Session 2 Road Based This is where Level 2 training begins and the aim of this session is to introduce the children to cycling on the road. They will do two- six exercises that will look at the two basic situations that they find when cycling on road. Session 3 Road Based The aim of this session is to extend what they learnt in session 2 Two – six more advanced exercises will be done to cover the basics of cycling on the road. Session 4 Road Based The aim of this session is for the children to put into practice what they learnt in the previous three sessions. By the end of the course the children should have reached Level 2 standard and be skilled and confident enough to be able to ride on the road in quieter residential areas as part of the traffic. Post Course Feedback reports and Bikeability Certificates issued. |
